Clearing the Slate: Post-Eclipse Space Cleansing with Sound & Salt

Aug 28
2 min read

With the intensity of the August 27–28 lunar eclipse behind us, the moon now enters its waning phase. Energetically and astronomically, the waning moon represents shedding, sweeping away residue, and clearing space for fresh perspective.

When you do internal shadow work or experience a heavy celestial transit, emotional and mental debris doesn't just evaporate—it often settles into the physical corners of your home. Stagnant energy gathers where air and movement are lowest.

Pairing the waning moon’s natural clearing momentum with two accessible, non-smoke tools—sound and coarse salt—creates an effective way to reset your living space without harsh smoke or lingering scents.

Why Sound and Salt Work Together

  • Sound (The Agitator): Sound waves physically vibrate matter. Ringing a bell, sounding a singing bowl, or clapping sharply into room corners breaks up heavy, stagnant air patterns that settle in unused spaces.

  • Coarse Salt (The Anchor & Sponge): Salt possesses a crystalline structure renowned for absorbing energetic and environmental static. While sound loosens old energy, salt draws it in and neutralizes it.

3-Step Space Cleansing Practice

  • 1. Open a Portal for Exit: Before beginning, open at least two windows or doors. Energetic debris needs an escape route; without an exit, you simply agitate the dust without clearing it out.

  • 2. Sound the Perimeter: Starting at your front door, move clockwise around the edges of each room. Ring a brass bell, strike a metal bowl, or clap your hands firmly into corners, doorways, and behind furniture until the sound rings crisp and clear rather than dull.

  • 3. Salt the Thresholds: Place small glass bowls of coarse sea salt or Himalayan salt in the four corners of your primary living space or by the entryway. Leave them undisturbed for 24 to 48 hours to absorb residual static, then discard the salt directly outside into the earth or down the drain.
