The 10-Minute Shadow Release Ritual for the Lunar Eclipse (Part III)

Aug 26
2 min read

When the Earth passes between the Sun and the Moon on the night of August 27–28, reaching 96.2% coverage around 12:12 AM, the sky offers an ideal window for clearing energetic debris.

Unlike a standard Full Moon ritual focused on manifestation and abundance, an eclipse ritual is strictly about unburdening. As Earth’s shadow sweeps across the lunar surface, it symbolizes bringing hidden habits, unspoken fears, and outdated emotional baggage into the light to be dissolved.

You do not need elaborate tools or hours of time. Here is a grounded, 10-minute ritual designed to help you consciously release what you are ready to leave behind.

Ritual Preparation (What You Need)

  • A quiet space (outdoors or near a window overlooking the night sky).

  • A piece of paper and a pen.

  • A heatproof bowl (or fire-safe container) and matches/lighter.

  • One grounding stone (Smoky Quartz, Black Obsidian, or Tourmaline).

Step-by-Step Eclipse Release (10 Minutes)

A Note on Practice: There is no single "correct" way to perform a ritual. The magic lives in your focus, not rigid rules. If a step, word, or tool doesn’t resonate with you, adjust it. What you do in ritual must feel authentic and right for you.
  1. Ground Your Space (Minutes 1–2): Hold your grounding stone in your non-dominant hand. Take three deep, grounding breaths—inhaling for 4 seconds, holding for 4, and exhaling for 6 seconds. Drop your physical shoulders and set a single clear intention: "I am ready to release what limits my growth."

  2. Write the Shadow List (Minutes 3–6): On your paper, write down 1 to 3 specific items you are ready to close the chapter on:

    • A recurring limiting belief (e.g., self-doubt, fear of rejection).

    • An unhealthy habit or loop of overthinking.

    • A connection or expectation that drains your peace.

  3. The Shadow Burn (Minutes 7–8): As the eclipse approaches its peak, read your list silently one last time. Consciously acknowledge that these patterns served a purpose in your past, but have no place in your future. Carefully ignite the corner of the paper and let it burn completely in your heatproof bowl.

  4. The Breath & Seal of Renewal (Minutes 9–10): Watch the smoke disperse into the air. Place both hands over your heart, take a long, deep inhale through your nose, and exhale with a sigh through your mouth. Speak your closing seal aloud:

"I release what was, I welcome what is, I trust what will be, with harm to none. By the power of three, so mote it be."
